Have you been avoiding dental appointments because of dental fear or anxiety? We welcome you to Greg G. Pitts DDS in American Fork, Utah, for comfortable, anxiety-free dentistry. Dr. Greg Pitts and the team focus on your comfort whenever you visit us. Our relaxing atmosphere makes you feel at home. You can also cozy up with a blanket and watch TV while we work on you! If you still want more comfort, you can request sedation dentistry.
Also known as painless dentistry, sedation dental care calms your nerves to help you feel comfortable and relaxed during treatment. In your next appointment, talk to us about your dental fears, and our team will find the best sedation dental care option for your needs.
Do you become anxious just at the thought of a dental appointment? Do you have a strong gag reflex or have difficulty sitting for a prolonged time? You are a prime candidate for sedation dentistry, and we’re pleased to help you overcome your situation.
Depending on the procedure and level of your dental anxiety, these are the sedation dentistry options at our office.
Sedation levels can either be mild, moderate, or deep, depending on your anxiety level. Mild sedation is administered orally, and you’ll remain awake during the procedure to respond to our instructions. Mild sedation is achieved through an oral pill or IV sedation, but the dosage is altered to ensure you receive deep relaxation but remain conscious.
Deep sedation is ideal for patients with severe dental fear. This sedation type makes you unconscious that you’ll neither respond to commands nor recall the treatment.
If you are receiving moderate to deep sedation, you must have someone accompany you to and from our office. This sedation takes several hours to wear off, so driving may be unsafe for you and other road users.
Imagine receiving the necessary treatment while comfortably seated in the dental chair! While this may sound like a pipe dream for dental-phobic patients, it’s possible with sedation dentistry.
