Nitrous Oxide
Commonly called laughing gas, nitrous oxide has long been the gold standard for mild to moderate dental anesthesia. You’ll wear a facemask and inhale the safe gas. As the anesthetic begins to work, you’ll feel a bit groggy and de-sensitized. Patients who need to resume normal daily activities following a procedure often choose nitrous oxide. As soon as we stop administration of the gas, the effects subside. You will be able to drive and work after your appointment.
IV Sedation
For a stronger sedative, Greg G. Pitts DDS offers IV sedation in our American Fork dental office. The anesthesiologist can alter the amount of medication to ensure proper dosage for your comfort. As with oral sedation, you will not be able to drive or work after IV sedation.
At your visit, explain your comfort concerns to Greg G. Pitts DDS so that he can recommend the appropriate sedative, if any. Many people feel apprehensive, nervous, or scared about dental visits.
