Our sedation dentistry options

Do you become anxious just at the thought of a dental appointment? Do you have a strong gag reflex or have difficulty sitting for a prolonged time? You are a prime candidate for sedation dentistry, and we’re pleased to help you overcome your situation.

Depending on the procedure and level of your dental anxiety, these are the sedation dentistry options at our office.

  • Nitrous oxide: You’ll breathe a pleasant-smelling gas, and within minutes, all your fears and anxieties will be no more. Just like its fast-acting, nitrous oxide leaves your body immediately after the mask is removed. This way, you don’t have to make any special arrangements to and from our office. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is ideal for patients of all ages, including children
  • IV sedation: Imagine undergoing a lengthy treatment like a root canal, dental implant, or surgical extraction. When your treatment is complete, you won’t remember the time taken, dental noises, and smells. This is what you can expect with IV sedation. During this procedure, the dentist will inject the sedation drug into your vein. And since the sedation goes directly into the bloodstream, the effects are immediate but can be titrated or increased according to how you respond to the treatment

We customize sedation dentistry to your needs

Sedation levels can either be mild, moderate, or deep, depending on your anxiety level. Mild sedation is administered orally, and you’ll remain awake during the procedure to respond to our instructions. Mild sedation is achieved through an oral pill or IV sedation, but the dosage is altered to ensure you receive deep relaxation but remain conscious.

Deep sedation is ideal for patients with severe dental fear. This sedation type makes you unconscious that you’ll neither respond to commands nor recall the treatment.

If you are receiving moderate to deep sedation, you must have someone accompany you to and from our office. This sedation takes several hours to wear off, so driving may be unsafe for you and other road users.

Sedation Dentistry Near Me

Imagine receiving the necessary treatment while comfortably seated in the dental chair! While this may sound like a pipe dream for dental-phobic patients, it’s possible with sedation dentistry
